Kolo Toure in contract saga with City

Manchester City's Ivorian international defender and brother to Yaya Toure may likely leave his current club this summer following the expiration of his contract and the clubside's non intention to come to terms with his agent for renewal. Instead, they are seriously seeking to sign a likely substitute, Carl Jenkinson a 21 year-old Arsenal Fc's defender. Kolo earns £2.4 million a year and is keen to renew with little or no increase. Manchester City's manager told journalists during the week that they dont know what will happen in the future about Kolo's renewal.

"Fire in Soweto" as Orlando and Kaizer clash

The two clubsides Orlando and Kaizer with the highest number of supporters in the country will bring Soweto town,South Africa to a standstill as they play against themselves in search of three more points that will determine their fate in the week 22 league tie.

Orlando Pirates are five points adrift of the league leaders Kaizer and are ready and determined to win this match as their victory will bring them back for contention of the league title. Key players, Sfiso Nyeni and Benni McCarthy of Pirates are currently out of the team due to injuries while Orlando Pirates George Lebese and Lechlohonolo Majoro are sidelined.

On 8th December, 2012,both teams played their first leg at the same venue with over 84,000 spectators but on inverted fixtures and it ended 1-1.


Rangers host Enyimba in an oriental derby

The much anticipated Nigeria Premier League commences this afternoon at 16:00 local time with 10 games in programme across the country. Rangers will be hosting Enyimba in an oriental derby at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium Enugu.

Enyimba having won most of their friendliness in preparation for the league is prepared to give Rangers a stiff opposition. For Rangers, the absence of their Senegalese defender Sane Ousmane due to injuries will spur them the more to repeat their last season performance against the Enyimba when they beat them to a 1-0 in Enugu.

According to James Okwuosah who happens to be the former Rangers Skipper now in South Africa with Chippa Utd, Rangers is a team to look out for this season as they are determined to take the title and have signed new formidable players.
Rangers have however won 4 times in the last 6 games played by both teams (in Enugu) in the previous league matches,drew once in 2010 and was defeated in 2007 with a 2-0.

Super Eagles of Nigeria to play Mexico


The Super Eagles of Nigeria will engage their Mexican counterpart in an international friendly match in Houston(Texas), USA on the 31st of May thus preparing themselves for the confederation cup billed for June in Brazil. This was announced on wednesday by the Nigerian Football Federation. A week after that, the Super Eagles will play against Kenya in the return leg of the African qualifying games to FIFA world cup in Brazil on the 8th of June.
Meanwhile, the 15 names of foreign based players to join the team in camp for the first leg world cup qualifier against Kenya slated to take place in Calabar on the 23rd march has been announced by Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi.
The players are goalkeepers Vincent Enyema and Austin Ejide, defenders Efe Ambrose, Anderson Echiejile and Kenneth Omeruo midfielders Mikel Obi, Onazi Ogenyi, John Ogu and Fegor Ogude, Forwards Ahmed Musa, Brown Ideye, Victor Moses, Babatunde Michael, Nnamdi Oduamadi and Obafemi Martins.

Onazi spurs Lazio to Europa League victory

During the Europa league,Onazi Eddy, a Nigerian International midfielder scored his first goal at 58 minutes into the game and that goal gave his serie A side,Lazio of Rome a 2-0 win in Stuttgart.

For Anzhi Makhachkala and Newscatle Utd,their game ended goalless for both parties which had Samuel Eto'o and Lacina Traore playing for Anzhi while Shola Amoebi was in the Newscatle team.

Mickel Obi's impressive runs and passes for Chelsea in the midfield did not prevent them from being defeated to a 1-0 by Steau Bucharest in Romania.

A lone goal was scored by Camerounian. International Pierre Webo after the home team,Fenerbahce missed so many goal chances, Plzen Viktoria in a match played in Czech Republic. Joseph Yobo,Nigeria's Super Eagle defender alongside Ziegler, Irtegun and Gonul in their defence thwarted all efforts by the Czechs to continue their six-match unbeaten record in the completion.

Kaizer extends lead in South African premier league


Kaizer Chiefs is presently at the lead in the ongoing South African premier League, not even wednesday's midweek match that was played across the country could produce a major threat to them.
Orlando Pirates who is occupying the second position drew 1-1 with Bloem Celtic when they played at home while Kaizer defeated Chippa Utd 2-0 to extend their lead to 5points.
Their next match will be this saturday where they will be hosting Orlando and they might take advantage of the home support to get more point thus increasing the gap.

Tottenham Vs Inter Milan: Adebayor and Joel Obi out


Tottenham spurs will this evening host Inter Milan in an Europa league last-16 first leg tie and they look set to play without Emmanuel Adebayor, with the Congolese international having suffered a knee injury during Sunday’s north London derby win over Arsenal.

Inter Milan’s Joel Obi will also not play tonight as he is still recovering from muscle injuries.
And in Romania, Senegalese Ba is ineligible for Chelsea’s match with Steau Bucharest having played for Newcastle in the competition earlier in the season, while Moses is not invited by Chelsea manager Rafa Benitez.
