CAF Champions League : Rangers, Kano Pillars qualify

As the preliminary round matches of CAF Champions were concluded over the weekend in africa, Rangers International of Enugu and Kano Pillars of Kano representing Nigeria in the tournament were qualified into the round of final of 32.
Sporting de clube of Sao Tome and Principe did not present a team in both legs which led to their disqualification and 3-0 table wins given to Rangers.
For Kano Pillars,they were qualified with their first leg victory in Kano which ended 5-1 as the second game they played against Olympic Real in Bangui,Central African Republic ended goalless.
In Ghana,Asante Kotoko qualified in the game they played against Sony de ela Ngueme 7-0 and pulling an away goalless draw. The Zamalek of Egypt were also qualified on a 7-0 aggregate.
Rangers will met Vital'O of Burundi in the next round billed for the weekend of 15-17 March while Kano Pillars will trade tackles with AC Leopards of Congo.

Levante Blocks Oba Martins US Move

Recently there were reports that the former InterMilan and Newcastle striker, Obafemi Martins had to join Seattle Sounders in United States Major Soccer League, but according to another report by Fichajes.com, Levante's (Martins' current clubside) president has decided to stop the move unless a €3 million termination of contract clause is paid.

Martins contract with Levante expires in 2014. However, Obafemi is poised to move over to the United States Of America in order to boost the modelling career of his girl friend Abigail Balotelli (sister to Mario Balotelli of AC Milan) who recently gave birth for him.

Equatorial Guinea appoints new coach

The former spanish international defender, Andoni Goikoetxea has been appointed Equatorial Guinea's new national coach.
His appointment comes three weeks away from their world cup qualifier against Cape Verde slated for Malabo on the 24th of march.

He had 39 appearances for Spain national team as a player before he became the assistant coach of the spanish team in USA '94 world and later the country's U-20 national team coach in 1995.
At club level he has coached Salamanca, Compostela, Numancia, Racing Santander, Rayo Valencano and Hercules all in Spain before this his first foreign job.

Lukman Haruna scores a precious goal

Reims proved bookmakers wrong yesterday in the French week 27 league match as they defeated star-studded Paris Saint German of Paris by scoring 64minutes in to the game. Napoli hooligans attack Juventus

 

Juventus players were yesterday attacked by a group of hooligans on their way to San Paolo stadium in Napoli throwing all sorts of harming objects at their vehicle thus shattering the vehicle's glasses, some fell over Kwadwo Asamoah but luckily he did not get hurt.
During the game, the Ghanaian International midfielder did not take part but the Juventus Director, Mr. Marotta while speaking with Sky Sports after the match said it had nothing to do with the attack. The game however ended in a 1-1 draw.

Barcellona Eyes Tunisian Defender

Abdelkader jilani while speaking to Shems FM revealed that barcellona officials have invited Aymen Abdennnour a Tunisian defender for talks during their champions league tie against AC Milan but Abdelkader who is a FIFA agent in-charge of football affairs of Toulouse and Tunisian defender said "we will wait till the end of the season to see what happens".

Asamoah, Juventus take war to Napoli

Juventus the Italian champions will be hosted by Napoli at Naples, Italy tonight. Both sides are determined to win even though it is a week 27 tie with outstanding 11games to play.

For Napoli, winning tonight will bring them 3points closer to Juventus and for Juventus which currently occupies the 1^st position with 58 points, winning tonight will place them some points ahead of the second placed Napoli paving way for the 31^st league win in their history. Kwadwo Asamoah, a Ghana international midfielder is part of the Juventus team.

There will be a match between Onazi’s Lazio and AC Milan at San Siro stadium in Milan tomorrow. Ogenyi Onazi will be starting from the bench to play against Ghanaian duo Kevin Bateng and Sulley Muntari of AC Milan who are ready and determined to win.
